VIRTUAL - Summer Reading: Painting Class for Adults Online

Register to receive the Zoom Link.

Reading Colors Your World is the summer reading theme this year and what better way to celebrate the theme (and reading) than with a virtual painting class. Greenwich Art Society Instructor Riley Strom will be leading all registered adult attendees through a two-hour guided art class, painting an artwork entitled, "Still Life with Books!"

Supplies are provided -- all you have to do is bring your creativity and love of art and reading!

Please note that this class will be limited to 25 attendees, 18 years old or over and all supplies must be picked up at the Greenwich Library Main Library, 101 West Putnam Ave., by Monday, July 12th at 5:00 p.m.

About the project, Still Life with Books! During this two-hour gouache painting class, students will paint a still life from a stack of books. Through observing and painting their still-life, students will become familiar with gouache paint and learn basic principles of perspective, scale, composition, and relational colors.

About the Instructor: Riley Strom is a painter originally from Los Angeles, currently working in Brooklyn, N.Y. She earned her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence in 2013 where she studied painting and philosophy. She co-founded and ran the contemporary art gallery, 99 Cent Plus Gallery from 2013-2016 in Brooklyn. She received an MFA in Painting from Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 2020. Her paintings investigate the relationship between image and her lived experience by means of symbolism, figuration, and abstraction.
