Friends Friday Films: Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint

Shown in conjunction with the Flinn Gallery’s exhibit GLOW, this illuminating documentary sheds a light on the groundbreaking artist Hilma af Klint, who introduced concepts of abstract art at the turn of the 20th century. Positing that she has been overlooked for myriad reasons including gender, spiritualist influences and a refusal to work within the system, the film seeks to reclaim af Klint's remarkable, singular legacy in art history. 1h34m. Check out a trailer here! Be sure to visit the Flinn Gallery's art lounge before the screening, open from 5:00-6:45pm.

Reel TalkAfter the film, join us for a Q&A with Max Rosenberg, an art historian and Director of Research and Exhibitions at the David Zwirner Gallery. He is a contributor to the book Hilma af Klint: Tree of Knowledge (2023), copies of which will be available for early purchase exclusively at this event.
