Science Girls!: Chemistry (Grades 3-5)
Explore the wonders of science in an interactive workshop with Ashley Malkin in the Children’s Program Room on the 3rd floor. For girls in grades 3-5.
Attendees will get an introduction to a science topic and participate in fun activities with Ashley and the Children's Librarians.
For all registered programs that are 30 minutes long you will be given a 10 minute grace period before we give your spot away to someone on the waitlist, for registered programs that are 45 minutes or longer the grace period will be 15 minutes.
ABOUT ASHLEY MALKIN
Ashley Malkin has loved science for as long as she can remember, and she is excited to share her passion! Ashley is a 2024 Research Science Institute Scholar and a 2024 Davidson Fellow. Her independent science research has been honored nationally and internationally including two Grand Awards at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Translational Medicine. Ashley presented her research at the 2023 World Congress of Neuroscience in Granada, Spain, and her research abstract was published in the IBRO Neuroscience Reports journal. She also won 1st place in Computer Science, 1st place in Life Science, and the H. Joseph Gerber Medal of Excellence (top prize) at the Connecticut Science and Engineering Fair. Ashley has conducted research at the MIT McGovern Institute for Brain Research and the Harvard Center for Bioethics. She is also an award-winning writer and debater, and her science writing has been honored by the National Institutes of Health.
