How Things Work: Dissecting a 3D Printer

Ever wondered how a 3D printer works? Join our Innovator-in-Residence, Mechanical Engineer Walker Wind, for an exciting and interactive exploration as he dissects a soon-to-be-retired 3D printer in the Innovation Lab! Walker’s hands-on demonstration will reveal the mechanics and technology behind 3D printing, providing insights that are both educational and entertaining for all ages. Dive into the fascinating world of engineering “teardowns” and uncover the design principles that make things efficient, sustainable, and functional.

No registration is required—seating is first-come, first-served and limited to 17 participants. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn how things work in a fun and engaging setting!

Walker Wind is a mechanical engineer and Senior Consultant specializing in sustainability. He provides engineering and economic analyses that inform the Department of Energy's efficiency standards for home appliances and HVAC systems. Previously, he served as President of the Tufts chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and as Fabrication Supervisor at the Nolop Makerspace at Tufts University.
