Join us to hear from Indra Nooyi, trailblazing former CEO of PepsiCo as part of the Library’s new Signature Series. Generous, authoritative, and grounded in lived experience, Nooyi’s memoir, My Life in Full is the story of an extraordinary leader’s life, a moving tribute to the relationships that created it, and a blueprint for 21st-century prosperity. Nooyi will be joined in conversation by journalist and author Joanne Lipman.

For a dozen years as one of the world’s most admired CEOs, Indra Nooyi redefined what it means to be an exceptional leader. The first woman of color and immigrant to run a Fortune 50 company, she transformed PepsiCo with a unique vision, a vigorous pursuit of excellence, and a deep sense of purpose. My Life in Full: Work, Family, and our Future offers a firsthand view of her legendary career and the sacrifices it so often demanded.

Nooyi takes us through the events that shaped her, from her childhood and early education in 1960s India to the Yale School of Management to her rise as a corporate consultant and strategist who soon ascended into the most senior executive ranks. The book offers an inside look at PepsiCo, and Nooyi’s thinking as she steered the iconic American company toward healthier products and worked to reduce the company's environmental impact, despite resistance at every turn.

For the first time, Nooyi also lays bare the difficulties that came with managing her demanding job with a growing family, what she learned along the way, and what it means for our future. She makes a clear, actionable, urgent call for business and government to prioritize the care ecosystem, paid leave and work flexibility, and a convincing argument for how improving company and community support for young family builders will unleash the economy’s full potential.

Joanne Lipman has served as Editor in Chief at USA Today, USA Today Network, Conde Nast Portfolio, and The Wall Street Journal’s Weekend Journal. She is currently the inaugural Distinguished Journalism Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. She is also a CNBC on-air contributor and author of the bestseller, That’s What She Said: What Men and Women Need to Know About Working Together. Lipman began her career as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, ultimately rising to deputy managing editor—the first woman to attain that post—and supervising coverage that won three Pulitzer Prizes. She has appeared as a television commentator on ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, and PBS, among others. She is also a frequent public speaker, with recent engagements including the World Economic Forum in Davos, the United Nations, the Aspen Ideas Festival, TEDx, and the International Lean In conference.
