Joan Crawford gives an iconic performance in this glamorous film noir story of motherhood, mystery, and murder! Armed with unrelenting drive and shoulder pads that could kill a man, Crawford's Mildred Pierce claws her way to the top in hopes of securing the love of her vain, contemptuous daughter. The Oscar-winning film effortlessly mixes humor with melodrama, dropping witty barbs amidst the story's delicious twists and turns in a manner only possible in classic Hollywood. 

REEL Talk: After the film, stay with us for a discussion with local film expert Michael Kovner, who has a penchant for noir. An avid classic movie fan from a young age, Mr. Kovner has screened and discussed films across a variety of venues from the Indian Harbor Yacht Club and Stamford's Avon Theater all the way to The Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach. When Mr. Kovner is not watching films, he's at home in the backcountry reading about them in his hefty library of movie books or at his day job as vice president and managing director of the real estate firm Brown Harris Stevens in New York City.

For your safety, all attendees of Berkley Theater programs will be required to show proof of full vaccination (in the form of their CDC Vaccination Card or a photo or photocopy of the Card) or a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours of the event. No one will be admitted without this documentation. All attendees also must wear face masks (regardless of vaccination status). Protocols may be modified as and when laws, science, and/or institutional requirements change. Capacity in the Berkley Theater is set at 100% for adult programs.
