Friends Friday Films: "Nightmare Alley"

Before checking out Guillermo del Toro's new take on this classic crime story, come see the original noir adaptation. We track the rise of an ambitious young mentalist, Stanton Carlisle (matinee idol Tyrone Power, playing against type) as he works his way up from performing in a grimy traveling carnival to entertaining America's most rich and powerful - allowing him to court their influence. Of course, you can't reach the top without stepping on a few toes, and Stanton is constantly in danger of past mistakes catching up with him. Does crime pay? Which femme will prove fatal? Come find out in this distinctive story of the slippery slopes of love and fame!

Watch the film's trailer here.

Admission to Friends Friday Films is open to all at no charge. Showtime is 7 pm. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. All attendees will be required to wear face masks (regardless of vaccination status), per the Town of Greenwich.
